How do you top the best comeback in NCAA Tourney history? Texas A&M came back from a 12-point deficit in the final 34 seconds to upend Northern Iowa on Saturday, tying it and winning in double overtime.
The Aggies’ Danuel House scored 22 points in the second half and both overtimes.
Oklahoma backup center Akolda Manyang missed his team’s 82-68 win over No. 15 Cal State-Bakersfield on Sunday when he returned to Minnesota following his brother’s suicide.
Buddy Hield leads the Sooners, averaging 25 points per game.
Two fun facts:
The Iron Giant went to Texas A&M. Well, his writer, Tim McCanlies, did. McCanlies, who also directed Secondhand Lions, graduated from A&M in 1975. … Speaking of big, Oklahoma University is home to the largest land-vertebrae skull ever found — pentaceratops (see above, chasing Danuel House) — which is more than 10 feet high … and that’s just the skull. It resides at the Sam Noble Museum.
